Still, still, still!
Austrian

This is a traditional Austrian Carol. Unlike the early English Carols that had repeating choruses, the Austrian and German carols were of a different style. This song was sung not only as a Christmas song, but as a lullaby. Though the words are quite lively, the song is peaceful. The author of this old song is lost in antiquity. Below, find the german language version along with an English version with three verses. It does not take a language scholar to see that the English version is not a direct translation! ---Bill Drennon

Still, still, still One can hear the falling snow. For all is hushed, The world is sleeping, Holy Star its vigil keeping. Still, still, still, One can hear the falling snow. Sleep, sleep, sleep, Dream, dream, dream, |
