A typical day at CVC's Kindergarten
CVC offers a full-day kindergarten program designed to foster academic, social, and spiritual growth. Here's a snapshot of a typical day for our littlest Cavaliers:
- Morning activity
- Devotions
- Daily Routines: flag salute, calendar and time activity, singing, counting
- Math activities
- Snack time and recess
- Phonics and literacy
- Lunch and recess
- Short rest/quiet time
- Bible time, share time and science/social studies
- Recess
- Center time, art projects and story time
Your child must be 5 years old on or before September 1st to attend Kindergarten the same year.
Academic Growth
READING: Sight words, phonetics, comprehension skills, and quality story time
MATH: Number recognition, counting, shapes, tallying, measuring, basic addition and subtraction, telling time
LANGUAGE: Letter formation, line usage, and basic sentence structure
BIBLE: Old Testament stories, New Testament stories, and Bible verse memorization
SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES: Five senses, weather, plants, animals, properties of water, historical figures/events, safety and health
SPECIALS: Our students also regularly enjoy classes in the following: art, music, computer, library and p.e.
Social Growth
- Classrooms filled with students diverse in their developmental stages
- Field trips to the zoo, museums, the pumpkin patch and various plays
- Three programs each year: a Christmas program, a spring program and Zoofari
- Children make friends and solve social problems
- Themed classroom parties and dress-up days (Johnny Appleseed, 100th day, Penguin day) and more
Spiritual Growth
- Daily devotions and prayer
- Faith integration in all subjects and situations
- Biblically-based morals and behavior expectations
- Children learn how to pray (including The Lord's Prayer)
- Weekly memory verses
