The role of Technology at CVC

At CVC we believe that students can make the greatest impact for Christ when they are equipped with the tools and skills necessary to engage their world.

Technology is a growing part of our students’ lives, and staying true to our mission statement, we seek to equip and inspire hearts and minds to transform the world for Christ. Teaching our students to use Technology responsibly is a natural part of a Christian education.

CVC incorporates technology in the classroom in all grade levels. Lower elementary students use iPads to reinforce instruction, and upper elementary students use Chromebooks to develop their online skills. Time in the library is dedicated to teach digital citizenship, which is reinforced in the classroom. Middle School and High School students use their Chromebooks daily to research and create content for their classes. The High School offers a programming class and graphic design and video production.

Each classroom has a digital projector capable of displaying content from a computer or wirelessly from the teacher’s device to allow the teacher to be among the students while still demonstrating topics to the class. Teachers also have access to GoGuardian Teacher to monitor student devices during class time.

Technology Integration and Computer Applications

1:1 Program

As a part of our Technology initiative, each student K-12 has access to a personal device. Students in Kindergarten through second grade use iPads which are better suited for their development, and starting in Third grade students use a Chromebook, although students aren’t expected to bring them to and from home until they reach Middle school.

Teachers are able to build opportunities for students to learn and develop skills in an age-appropriate way at each grade level, which encourages discernment and responsible freedom. Each device has web content filtering enabled at all times so that students can safely have personalized access to classroom content while away from school.

CVC has been using Google Workspace for Education for over 10 years and Chromebooks are an excellent way to further take advantage of the tools our teachers and students are already using. We’re excited for the possibilities this has added to our current curriculum and where it will take our students after they leave CVC!
