The Basics of the Scrip Program

  • CVC families and friends buy retail gift cards through our scrip program at face value.  You can choose from nearly 400 national retail stores where you already shop!  (See available retailers)
  • CVC buys the gift cards at up to 10% less than face value (varies by retailer).
  • The difference between face value and what CVC pays is split between CVC and the scrip buyer.  You will receive up to a 3% tuition rebate through your scrip purchases.
Here’s an Example
Mrs. Smith is doing some boutique shopping, so she buys a $100 Downtown Visalia gift card for $100 through CVC’s Scrip office. She just earned $3 because Downtown Visalia gift cards are available to Scrip at 3% less than face value. $1.50 goes to CVC, $1.50 goes to Mrs. Smith as a tuition rebate. She will do the same thing when she needs cleaning supplies at Target, and earn $1.75 for herself and $1.75 for the school just by using a $100 Target GiftCard to pay for her purchases.

July 28, 2020 UPDATE: Central Valley Christian School will begin on Wednesday, September 2 (three weeks later than originally planned) and will end on June 4, and will provide a full year of education for your child.

Please note: If CVC had begun on August 12 as originally planned, CVC would either start immediately with distance learning, or do in-person classes, thereby violating the governor's mandate, neither of which is something CVC wants to do. The risks of going against this executive order are legal, financial, and spiritual for our administrators, teachers, board members, and to our school as a whole. During these two weeks, CVC will be seeking the counsel of legal and liability insurance experts to make sure we do things correctly the first time.

When the waiver (mentioned in the governor's mandate) from the county health department is available, our county health officer will notify us, and we will then submit our application for the waiver and employ our plan to do school safely in the midst of a health crisis, making any necessary adjustments and aiming to set the bar high for our community.

You chose CVC because you wanted a Christian education, which still happens when it is not in person. Are conversations better when they’re face to face? Of course they are, and the same is true for education. That is absolutely the way we all want it.

We are working extremely hard – the board, the administrators, and soon, the teachers – to equip and inspire your child’s heart and mind. Let’s not limit how God can use us to create that learning experience. God has big plans for your children and we’re here to help them discover those plans and equip and inspire them to follow His call. With God’s help, we can do this.

Our re-entry plan for the 20-21 school year is now available at . Things in our county are changing very rapidly, and we are all in new territory when it comes to implementing these procedures. We will stay flexible as new information is made available and as we go through some trial and error of implementation. We will be evaluating the entirety of the plan after four weeks of school and making appropriate adjustments at that time.

On the Re-Opening Plan page, we are also providing a platform for you to ask your questions, and we will post answers to FAQ there.

Many prayers were offered before and during the board's deliberations last night. Thank you all for recognizing that we humbly serve a God who has this under control as we try our best to serve Him, love Him, and also serve and love our neighbor. We urge you to continue praying. Pray for God to use these unusual circumstances to reveal his power and to draw us ever closer to Himself.

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1
