The Basics of the Scrip Program

  • CVC families and friends buy retail gift cards through our scrip program at face value.  You can choose from nearly 400 national retail stores where you already shop!  (See available retailers)
  • CVC buys the gift cards at up to 10% less than face value (varies by retailer).
  • The difference between face value and what CVC pays is split between CVC and the scrip buyer.  You will receive up to a 3% tuition rebate through your scrip purchases.
Here’s an Example
Mrs. Smith is doing some boutique shopping, so she buys a $100 Downtown Visalia gift card for $100 through CVC’s Scrip office. She just earned $3 because Downtown Visalia gift cards are available to Scrip at 3% less than face value. $1.50 goes to CVC, $1.50 goes to Mrs. Smith as a tuition rebate. She will do the same thing when she needs cleaning supplies at Target, and earn $1.75 for herself and $1.75 for the school just by using a $100 Target GiftCard to pay for her purchases.

LET'S HAVE A WORD
with Pastor Lambert Sikkema from Hanford CRC:

In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me? I must perform my vows to you, O God; I will render thank offerings to you. For you have delivered my soul from death, yes, my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of life. Psalm 56:10-13

In 1991 there was a rock concert outside of Moscow. The Soviet Union had, at long last, collapsed. Westerners were welcomed, as was their popular music. More than a million people attended the concert, and 57 didn't live to see the end of it. The Red Army provided security. There’s been nothing like it before or since.

One of the bands was Metallica, playing “Enter Sandman"--a song about our universal fear of monsters in general and the ones under the bed in particular. Ironically, the song includes a child’s bedtime prayer with the phrase “if I die before I wake”--a strange thing for kids to be wondering about.

Suddenly, after 70 years of the “monster”, without a shot being fired, the monster had collapsed and people could freely go to a concert and listen to musicians mock the monster. The crowd roared with elation and incredulity. They were fearlessly free…if only for the duration of the concert.

That was 30 years ago. Today in the West the monsters we face, like those throughout the ages, are of our own making. The monsters we face seem insurmountable, indomitable, life-threatening even, but only if we allow them that power. The Bible reminds us that Jesus set us free from fear. The secret to living into that freedom is to hold fast to the creator, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Therefore “I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me…for you have delivered my soul from death, yes, my feet
from falling, so that I may walk before God in the light of life.”

We arrived at the place where we fear the “monsters” more than we believe in the sovereignty of God and his capacity to keep our “feet from falling”. Fear not, says Jesus, I will never leave you or forsake you. Let’s live into that truth every day.

There are so many ways to support CVC--one of which is our Beef Cow Drive!
The dairyman/cattleman simply needs to select a designated number of beef cows within a specific time frame, and the auction yard will send a check to CVC as your donation (from the sale of your designated beef cows). There are multiple ways you can plan out your donation for the year-long drive, which runs through June 2021.
Please contact Nathan Heeringa (559-731-4924) or Frank Leyendekker (559-805-0050) to get more details on how to support CVC in this way.
We're so thankful that you continue to partner with us in our mission to equip and inspire hearts and minds to transform the world for Christ!

CVC Cross Country was part of the GW Meet!
It was a staggered race for the schools, pitting only two schools' XC teams against one another at one time, but the pre-race excitement was still felt by everyone!

In the words of CVC cross country coach Ally Kornelis: "It was a gorgeous day, and the mountains made a beautiful backdrop against the faces of pain and torment that were captured before them."

There were a number of personal records this time around, but all-in-all, our Cavaliers were just happy to be part of the competition!
